Dubai Air Navigation Services observed UAE Civil Aviation Day with a visit by key dignitaries and officials from the global aviation sector to the Air Traffic Management facility at Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai South).




Dubai Air Navigation Services observed UAE Civil Aviation Day with a visit by key dignitaries and officials from the global aviation sector to the Air Traffic Management facility at Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai South). The tour came as part of the organization’s participation as one of the “Supporters” of the International conference “ATC Global”.

Under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports; President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, and Chairman of Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS),”ATC Global” is taking place in Dubai for the first time in its history of 25 years in operations from the 5th to the 7th of October at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Through its unique platform, “ATC Global” brings together professionals from across the International Air Traffic Management sector and provides the opportunity of engaging with decision makers, as well as facilitates a collaborative environment for exchange of knowledge, expertise and benchmarking best practices. As DANS strives to lead the ATM Sector in the region, it is a great opportunity to support this platform of engagement that will enable the organization to participate in shaping the future of the sector.

The attendees comprised of delegates from airport authorities, civil aviation authorities and International air navigation services providers from a diverse array of countries amongst those were the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Peru, Senegal, Qatar, Morocco and Lebanon. The delegation convened to visit the facility from where the Dubai and Northern Emirates air space is being managed, as well as had the opportunity of unique exposure to the latest cutting edge technology in the Air Traffic Control Tower, the World’s largest 360 Tower Simulator “TOSIM”, and the Dubai Approach Radar facility, utilized to drive further success and growth in the UAE Aviation sector.

H.E. Mohammed A. Ahli, Director General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) & CEO of Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) stated in light of this event: “We are proud of the accomplishments we have achieved in the aviation sector, and as we continue on our journey to further growth, cooperation between DANS and International organizations is a highly crucial asset to complement this. We are always keen on sharing the Dubai story with all entities who are interested in participating in the growth of the sector”.

UAE Civil Aviation Day that has been marked by the Cabinet as an important day in the history of the UAE. This day is to commemorate the milestones the sector has achieved to date, from its onset of humble beginnings dating back to the first airplane that landed in Al Mahatta Airport in Sharjah on 5th of October in 1932.

Dubai Air Navigation services (DANS) is the air navigation services provider that manages the Dubai and Northern Emirates airspace. DANS also provides air navigation services for airport authorities and numerous prestigious airlines, including the World’s busiest airport in terms of international passenger numbers-Dubai International Airport.
